Podcast Site Review: Podcast.net

This entry posted in: Podcasting Site Review

Podcast.net (beta)

Format: web page
Content: podcast directory

Not much to say about this site - it's perfect in its simplicity.

Podcast.net is very simply a listing of podcasts. As of this writing there are 222 of them. Podcasters can submit their 'casts for inclusion and podcatchers can go there to look for new stuff. The podcasts are simply listed in order of submission, newest first, or can be sorted alphabetically. Each podcast has a text url for the feed and a link to the site that's associated with it.

The only thing I would like to see from this site is an RSS feed for changes. The site is beta - so there may be a lot more coming.

Podcast Site Review: podstar

podstar

Format: Website
Content: podcasting hardware, software, and press

podstar is a stripped-down website that cuts right to the chase and delivers it's valuable content free of clutter. There's little commercial glitz or glamor on this site, and that's one of its strengths.

Since October 16th, Paul Robinson has been posting daily about all aspects of podcasting. He posts brief reviews of a few podcasts, notes new posts from some 'casts, podcasting press and software and hardware news.
The site is clean and easy to navigate, and the volume of information posted there is great - between 5 and 10 new posts every day. I really like the white interface of the website, which makes it seem even more uncluttered and makes the graphics really pop.

podstar is in my aggregator, and I check back to the site fairly often.

Podcast Site Review: The Podcast Bunker

This entry posted in: Podcasting Site Review

Format: Website
Content: "All podcast all the time"

And now for something completely different; a review of a site about podcasting.

These folks have put together a pretty slick-looking site relating solely to podcasting. There's a lot of potential for a user-base to become active at this site if it gets the kind of community going that will support that kind of activity.

There are mechanisms by which users can submit content or blog entries to the site, including suggesting a podcast. There's a little podcast and technology news. There are blurbs and ratings of several podcasts as well, as well as links to the feeds.

All in all, this site has some potential to be of use to the podcasting "community", but it's worth will all depend on the community it's able to build.
